The Dilly Dally 9.15

Welcome to The Dilly Dally, the revamped version of Random Thoughts! I've always wanted to change that name, and I finally thought of one cute enough 😂. This post will house my random thoughts, as well as any inspiration and musings that come my way.

Reading

I got back into reading this summer, after I finally finished my needlepoint project. I have read a whopping total of five books this year, beating last year's total of four. There are so many books sitting on my bookshelf and TBR list, and I can't wait to read them all. I added my Storygraph as a social icon on the sidebar so you can easily see what I'm reading!

My favorite book this year so far hands down goes to Memphis by Tara M. Stringfellow. It felt to warm and perfectly depicts life as a southern Black woman.

In related news, I got a library card!! I'm so excited just thinking about all the information I have access to. On top of visiting the library, I also have access to the Libby app with my library card. I can check out books and magazines, and read them on my iPad! When I get through the books on my physical shelf, it's over📚.

Organizing

I am fully aware that I love things. I have various collections in my house, whether it be books, magazines or dolls. I got this bug to not only organize the collections, but digitize them.

My biggest collection would have to be my candles. I loooove candles, and I will not say how many I have😂. I have them organized by season, and I needed a way to visually see them all. Enter the Numbers app! It's Apple's version of Excel, and I'm loving it so far. I spent a Sunday afternoon putting every candle I own into a spreadsheet.

Digitally organizing my collection

I find the Numbers app easier to use, and I love I can access it on my phone and iPad. If you're Type A like me, you'll fully understand the joy I feel creating a tab for each season with coordinating colors😂. Now when I'm out and about, I can easily see which candles I already have! Let me know if you want to know my favorites!

I also created another spreadsheet for my vinyl records! Now I can easily see everything I have, plus keep track of how many times I listened to an album. Leave it to me to turn everything into a statistic!

One of my long term projects is physically organizing my magazine collection into binders. I have been looking for a way to display them neatly, since I have so many. More to come!

That's all I have for this week! Let me know what has caught your eye recently!
