It was four months in the making, but I finally finished my Cowboy Carter needlepoint bag strap in time for my show! I'm talking one hour before I got in the car to leave. 😂 It took a lot of time, but it was so worth it! Here's how I got it done.

I started stitching the canvas back in February. I bought it from Julia Renee Designs Co. on Etsy. The canvas isn't listed on her shop page as of now, but she has plenty of Beyoncé-related canvases to purchase! I purchased DMC Cotton thread in red, white, and blue, and black in Silk Lamé braid for the letters.
I knew I wanted to do the basketweave stitch on the whole project, since that's one of the only stitches I knew😂. Once I started stitching, the process went by very fast. The "hardest" part would be stitching the letters, since the design wasn't a perfect rectangle. But that made it fun!

The real challenge came when it was time to finish it into a bag strap. Normally, you would send a project like this to a finisher, but I knew I would be cutting it close with the lead time. It took me almost five months to stitch the whole canvas!

I purchased all the supplies at random; I picked what I thought would work for finishing. After watching many TikTok videos on finishing key chains and belts, I decided on using heat and bond to attach to the back of the canvas. I used this fabric for the back of the project to try and make it look as professional as possible 😂. I also bought red and blue thread and ribbon to make it more unique.
I completed most of the work the night before leaving, but I sewed it together completely the day of! The only thing that caught be off guard was not being able to turn the project inside out after sewing. That's why one side doesn't have a clean edge, but I'm glad it's complete and in one piece!

I made a little TikTok montage that has been well received! I am so happy with how the bag strap turned out. Let me know if you have any questions about the entire process!
